The Jose T. Joya Gallery of the University of the Philippines Cebu is a student-run gallery under the Fine Arts Program aiming to provide a platform for collaboration between the local community of artists, academe and the general public.

The gallery provides exhibition opportunities especially to young emerging artists who wants to expand their art careers as they present contemporary modes of expressions and experimentations in art making. Furthermore, the gallery aims to become a center for research and knowledge production through organized talks, discussions, art workshops and trainings promoting appreciation, critique and valuation of local art.

It serves as an academic learning facility which support research initiatives by faculty and students especially in the fields of local art history and criticism, art management and curatorial studies.

ON EXHIBIT - APRIL 28 TO MAY 05, 2023

Memory of a future

The exhibit with the sponsorship of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts will feature Cebuano visual artists whose works reflect the relationship between humanity and nature. Nature, while being the ultimate reflection of beauty as intelligent design, is a source of inspiration and subject matter for art, but it has also been a subject of human mastery for its own ends. This dialogue is showcased in the works of the artists: Josua Cabrera, Julianne Delmar, Jay Nathan Jore, Radel Paredes, and Palmy Pe-Tudtud.

The exhibit will be a week-long tour starting on April 28 until May 05, 2023 and is open to the public every Mondays - Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. An online gallery will be made available for those who cannot visit the exhibit. It will feature not only the works but also interviews with the participating artists.

On May 5, 2023, an Artists’ Talk event will feature a dialogue with the artists and a reading from participating poets who will read their poems on nature and the environment.

With the nearing exhibition, We would appreciate your assistance in promoting the works of our featured artists and making this event a success.
